A Fine Arts graduate with a concentration in audiovisual media, he has made numerous short films, the most noteworthy being "Amor de madre" and "El tren de la bruja". The latter has received several important prizes, including the 2003 Méliès d'Or for Best European Fantastic Short.
As assistant director he has made several television commercials (Licor 43, Bizkaia Turismo, Galicia Calidade...), shorts ("Snuff 2000", "7:35 in the Morning"...) and music videos (OBK, Extremoduro, Siniestro Total...).
Serra is also an illustrator and story board artist.
He has shot his first feature-length movie, "The Backwoods", starring
Gary Oldman, Paddy Considine, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón and Virginie Ledoyen.
